Frotcast 148: Comedian Pam Benjamin, Clown Orgies, Oblivion

This week on the Frotcast, we’re short staffed, with Ben down in Southern California with family and Brendan out at a work function or possibly strung out on heroin. But we make the most of it, bringing on San Francisco comedienne and writer Pam Benjamin, who tells us all about her journey from sheltered Christian girl to divorceé and participant in a GHB-fueled karaoke orgy on a houseboat with a group of porn clowns (note: this is a real thing). We talk a little about the news, like Justin Bieber at the Anne Frank museum, Tyler Perry’s motivational stove, and the police chief who ate his daughter’s entire pot cake. Also, I saw Oblivion, and we talk about that. Cool? Cool.

Jesse Ventura pops in, Jason shares a story involving Luke Skywalker, Brendan goes after the NCAA, and Vince plays a clip with the screenwriter of Identity Thief. The guys also discuss the love/hate dichotomy involving Nickelback, Creed, and Guy Fieri.
00:35:35 - Jason gets into some new conspiracies, such as the recent Sandy Hook incident. He also talks about the government running drills, and how he witnessed a fake SARS outbreak. Secret societies, like the Illumanity, and 9/11 get brought up.

Vince plays a clip of Armond White calling Samuel L. Jackson an Uncle Tom based on his film roles, which leads to some talk about Django Unchained and Luther Campbell calling out Spike Lee. They also talk about movie critics, envision the interactions between Quentin Tarantino and the Coke Wizard, and Brendan gives his reasons for not caring about award shows.
00:26:20 - Vince plays Jodi Foster’s incoherent, Aaron Sorkin-esque speech at the Golden Globes. The guys get into how the lack of human interaction can affect one’s conversational habits, and how their parents’ generation is not adept to processing the amount of information that comes their ways these days. Something about 8-foot tall vikings.
00:44:30 - Alison Stevenson joins the Frotcast and follows up a FilmDrunk post from November with a background story. Vince shares a embarrassing story about a friend. 00:02:58 - Brendan kicks things off with a story about a coworker puking in the office. The guys talk about the Pyramid of Success, multi-level marketing, and shower heads. Vince reads a Reddit post involving diarrhea and a NBA mascot. Akira Kurosawa gets brought into the discussion of Vince’s farts and anal fissures,and the guys go off on a tangent about anal fracking.
00:14:52 - Guest Jason Dove gets into the JFK assassination conspiracy. He talks about Lee Harvey Oswald’s role, Oswald’s girlfriend, the plot to kill Castro with a bioweapon, LBJ’s motive, the Zapruder film, George H. W. Bush’s involvement, and the CIA’s role due to the failure of the Bay of Pigs invasion. Bret takes issue with conspiracy theories.
00:47:30 - Jason tries to explain the Lizard People and how David Icke is involved. The conspiracy theory gets described as a mix of V and They Live. Apparently the moon is a hollowed out planetoid housing aliens that mated with humans. The guys also talk about blood lines and secret societies.
01:05:57 - Brendan and Jason do competing Jesse Ventura impersonations. Brendan asks Jason if he’s ever heard of Humanzees, and Bret brings up a George W. Bush State of the Union address where human-animal hybrids get mentioned. Vince plays of the clip of Alex Jones on Piers Morgan’s show, and his role in Charlie Sheen’s meltdown. The guys wonder why certain movements get co-opted by crazy people. They also discuss Donal Trump, and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s human-animal hybrid offspring.
01:40:20 - Vince reads some emails from listeners where one thinks he sat next to Chloë Moretz on a ski lift, and one has questions about a mysterious shitter at work. Frotcast Bonus: Jordan Morris

Here’s the deal, Jordan Morris from Jordan Jesse Go! (that’s another podcast for those of you unfamiliar - DO NOT DESERT ME!) was in town this weekend, and the rest of the boys were at work, so we recorded a one-on-one podcast. It’s not quite the normal Frotcast vibe you’re used to, but we did get to talk lots about movies, cult movies, Jordan’s favorite and least favorite interview subjects, and getting in early on the whole podcast phenomenon. Definitely not as many jokes or as much horseplay, but we did actually get complete some thoughts. Complete thoughts are probably overrated, but still. A good time was had by all. 00:02:38 - Vince goes into detail of what glorious things he had to eat the previous night. Brendan went to a metal concert sober. The guys start to talk about the Buzzfeed/Oatmeal feud over a rape joke that winds its way into a discussion about gun control.
00:20:55 - A listener clarifies a question the guys had about moonshine from a previous episode. There’s talk about the use of Porky Pigging vs Donald Ducking. Vince plays a clip that embodies the Christopher Walken School of Acting. Vince likes pot roast.
00:32:05 - Laremy joins the Frotcast starting off with some football talk before getting into The Hobbit with Vince. Both of them had issues with the film besides the running time, and they get into the 48 fps “soap opera” effect. The gang talks about some of Peter Jackson’s past non-Tolkien films.
00:57:55 - As usual, Laremy comes prepared with a list: Rejected Bermanisms. The guys read off the Lacrosse All-Name Team and a list unusual baby names. Vince brings up a recent Kevin Smith post on FilmDrunk that created some outrage in the comments section. Brendan gets into the hit and miss ratio of Key and Peele skits, which leads to Bret going on a rant about comedy writing in the internet age.
01:37:05 - Time for some more emails. One listener asks if there have ever been a negative side to being recognized out in public. Brendan reveals some nightmares he’s had due to involvement with the Frotcast. A listener asks about the protocol of naked dumps at work, and the guys get into stories about that one kid everyone went to school with who peed at the urinal with his pants around his ankles. The topic of favorite film versus the best film you’ve ever seen gets brought, and how some people use that to show how sophisticated they are. A new Paul Blart Presents is introduced, and one listener tries to breakdown who would win in a fight between the four Frotcast members.

Filmdrunk 128: Burnsy and Laremy

This week we have two guests! Burnsy comes on with some HOTT GOSS as well as some fresh Youtube clips. Laremy comes on and we let him give us a list at the very end. We talk some movies, play a clip from Teen Mom 2, and hear stories from the Frotcasters.

00:01:25 - The guys start things off by poppin’ tacos and talking about the Facebook status update hoax that has been going around lately. Ben has really gotten into Teen Mom 2, and Vince plays a clip where one of the young moms has to make a difficult decision (hint: a Ke$ha concert is involved). The guys get into a discussion about the popularity of GIFs, which leads into talk about one of the most GIFable moments in sports: Mark Sanchez running into his own lineman and fumbling. They also mourn the career of 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.
00:21:13 - Burnsy brings what could be the next Friday in Brittany Smooch’s Pink on Pink. Vince admires Patrice Wilson, the producer of these spoiled rich kid music videos, and plays Thanksgiving for everyone. The guys talk about Honey Boo Boo’s disgusting mother, and the lacrosse/music sensation Con Bro Chill. Burnsy gives a peek into his Worst Movies of the Year list, and the guys get into a Red Dawn original vs. remake discussion. Vince reads from Jada Pinkett Smith’s Facebook post about people questioning her parenting skills. Burnsy leaves with some Hot Goss; he is looking for a new celebrity BFF.

01:48:41 - Ben gets around to talking about an terrible Hollywood job he had leading to a discussion about some of the worst people in the world (publicists and assistants). The guys are fascinated by the viral factor of some of the Key and Peele skits.
02:02:56 - Matt concludes the longest running Frotcast of all time by answering some of your questions. You’ll get the lowdown on the cancellation of Corgi Friday.

00:00:00 - Things kick off with Party Enema by NOFX introducing some butt chugging talk. The guys bring up the thought of butt chugging being part of the Presidential campaign platform, and get into some debate talk. Brendan does some impressions, and the guys go over the names of the Romney children. We hear about Microphone Mike Michaelson getting pulled back into duty. The guys set up the clip of the butt chugging press conference which involves the stereotypical Southern lawyer. Vince tells a tale about the drinking prowess of an Irishman.
00:13:55 - Regular guest Matt Ufford joins the Frotcast for the playing of the butt chugging clip where the Southern lawyer repeatedly mentions “butt chugging.” Vince gets into the religious aspect of the story, and the guys question the state the accused was found in. Matt shares some fraternity stories from his time at Northwestern. They all come to the conclusion that the alleged “butt chugger” will become a legend within his fraternity.
00:41:50 - The guys get into reviewing Looper, but before that can happen Brendan wants to talk about the trailers shown before the film and Hollywood’s treatment of bullies. Bret declares “street law” by taking Ben to task for his taste in films. The guys get into the review with talk of future drugs, the distraction of making JGL look like Bruce Willis, and accepting a SciFi premise for what it is. Matt brings up Rian Johnson’s debut, Brick, and is not having any time-travel talk.
01:04:55 - SPOILER ALERT! Matt gets the ball rolling on the spoilers, there is something about Piper Perabo being topless, and Bret goes off on Ben.
01:10:10 - Vince imagines his director’s cut version by adding some more scenes for Emily Blunt…and a pie. Looper reminds Matt of Face/Off, and the guys were pretty impressed with JGL’s impression of Willis. Matt gets some questions from the listeners dealing with wives getting fatter, jerking off in the shitter on base, and whether to wait for a girl or go traveling. Somehow hymen restoration and tank jerk were brought up. The guys get asked a movie question about what movie they didn’t like but thought would be improved with a different actor.
01:35:22 - Ben has issues with the Cloud Atlas trailer, but Matt highly recommends the book and its author. Vince culminates his fantasy about Emily Blunt, and Vloggeraptor.

00:02:00 - Things start off with CNN’s front page poop transplant story. Vince reads some listener emails involving Jews in Australia and poop stories. The guys also talk about the classic SNL Schmitts Gay bit, and their generation’s Stairway to Heaven.
00:13:30 - Recurring guest Justin Halpern joins the Frotcast. He is currently writing for Cougar Town, and is working on a pilot for Fox based on his book I Suck at Girls. Vince reads another listener email detailing a grating experience. Spending time in sitcom writing rooms, Justin goes over some of well worn tropes and jokes that can be found in every single sitcom. There’s some talk about The Master, which leads to dog farts and the time Justin farted on Jennifer Love Hewitt.
00:46:12 - Vince reads a story about the replacement ref who blew the call from Monday’s game. The guys discuss the effect Twitter has on jokes, and they get a kick out of Nancy Grace’s Twitter hashtags. The guys go off on sports screaming heads, Bret pitches a show idea, and Interrupting David Lee Roth returns.
01:02:51 - Plenty of clips are played. There’s a story about butt chugging, the bully dialogue from the Stoker trailer, Lil Wayne’s deposition, and local news story involving a squirrel. Brendan talks about some of the owners at his dog’s obedience class. Vince dreams about the possibility of Wee Man water skiing just from the speed and force of Usain Bolt. Somebody wants to fight Vince about a joke he never actually told.

00:03:00 - Bret actually saw some movies recently, and wants to talk about them. The guys talk about actors really wanting to do a New York accents, which spirals out of control. They also talk about Breaking Bad and Chopped.
00:17:05 - Laremy bloops in from the Toronto Film Festival. He’ll be seeing 17 movies in 5 days, and is looking forward to Looper, Argo, Seven Psychopaths, and some others. There is some talk about the FilmDrunk and Friends show last week, and some more information about the Chicago shows. Vince plays the political ad from Chuck Norris and his wife.
00:40:13 - The guys can’t stand the DNC, and the RNC. They compare it to a boring version of WWE. A listener sends in an email about dead finches. Bret finally does shtick.
00:51:25 - Vince and Laremy talk about The Ambassador, a documentary Vince recently reviewed and interviewed the director. Laremy dreams of doing Esquire type celebrity interviews. The horrible Oogieloves trailer gets played, and the guys have trouble distinguishing between certain kinds of actors.
01:11:35 - Laremy goes over some of the movies he is looking forward to this winter. There are some masturbation stories. The guys all agree it should be legal to land one good punch on a WBC member.

Frotcast 115: Joe King Live, ‘We Need to Talk about Tevin’

We’re coming to Chicago November 3d! Mark your calendars! This week on the Frotcast, Joe King is LIVE IN THE FROTQUARTERS! Joe unveils that he no longer has a stage name, so meet Joe Sinclitico. Brendan reads us an email from his girlfriend’s mom about accidentally hitting a Chinese man in the nuts at Costco, we talk about Knuckle, the documentary about bare-knuckle gypsy brawlin’, and Joe answers some of your questions about his mom and being a porn cameraman. After that, Joe Kin– er, Sinclitico, pitches us some new movie ideas, and indulges his strange obsession with Tevin Campbell. After that, things get a little fuzzy. We discussed what ever happened to Dauber from Coach. We play some audio from Ryan Lochte’s crazy sister who seems to love a certain racial slur for Chinese people. At one point Joe accidentally stops the recording on my computer while he Googles Tevin Campbell stuff, so we lost about 15 minutes there, but hey, if you don’t enjoy total disasters, hey, I don’t know why you’d be listening to a Frotcast, especially one with Joe as the guest. Filmdrunk 114: Laremy, Gathering of the Juggalos

We are coming to Chicago! 11/3 weekend at University of Chicago.

This week Ben returns from Bermuda, we bring Laremy Legel on and he brings some lists. We play a clip from the Gathering of the Juggalos, talk about Hard Knocks and Brendan’s NFL stories, listen to kids cry after a movie, and of course other Frotcast jackassery.

00:01:20 - More information about the live Frotcasts in Chicago is revealed. The guys will be at the University of Chicago the weekend of November 3rd, with either Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Monday shows. 80’s action films will be the theme, and you can choose from Commando, Predator, Over the Top, or The Running Man. The discussion on whether Stallone’s films are dumber than Arnold’s is brought up.
00:07:23 - The guys have been really enjoying Hard Knocks on HBO, but they think the Dolphin’s head coach is the “uncool dad” type. Brendan shares some of his stories at training camp as a rookie for the Baltimore Ravens. They get into the topic of hazing, and talk about some of their favorite rookie haircuts.
00:24:10 - Laremy gets blooped in to a surprise. He has created 2 lists specifically for the Frotcast: People who like to f*ck, and jobs he can currently get. The first lists includes various types of ninjas, a couple of actors, and people with disabilites. Kirk Cameron gets mentioned, and Laremy recently saw Celeste & Jesse Forever with Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg.
00:39:26 - Reader question time. The guys are asked to solve an epic debate amongst friends: Road House vs Point Break, and Top Gun vs Days of Thunder. Vince plays the clip of the two blubbering kids who just saw The Odd Life of Timothy Green. Laremy shares an anecdote.
00:56:17 - We get the first clip of footage from the Gathering of Juggalos featuring a guy getting hit with a stick for money. Another clip gets played from local news interview with a woman detailing her escape from an apartment fire, which eventually got the auto-tune treatment.
01:05:06 - Laremy reads his jobs list, and he even included slogans for some of them. The party nap planner just might be the best. The guys bemoan loud motorcycles, and talk about getting defriended on Facebook.
01:17:22 - Vince plays the millionth Call Me Maybe parody featuring the Chicago Young Republicans. As usual, there is some Newsroom talk, and Vince adds another show to his hate-watching list. Fake Bret makes an appearance talking about his favorite Latin species of squirrel, and Pre-Squirrel Fest.
01:28:22 - Ben gives a recap on his trip to Bermuda, and gives his thoughts about his drunken bloop-in last week. The guys are bewildered with the device used at customs in Mexico airports.

This week on the Frotcast, we welcome San Francisco comic Alex Q. Huffman to the frotquarters, Ben surprise bloops in from Bermuda, and we talk to Michael Buhman and Dan, our correspondents who just got back from the Gathering of the Juggalos in Illinois. Alex tells us about traveling from Ohio to San Francisco, getting illegally evicted from his house and living in his car for more than a year, Ben bloops in drunk at 2 am in Bermuda, and we talk to Mike and Dan all about the Juggalo economy, Insane Clown Posse, underage girls, a guy selling toads, a gangbang on a bridge, and all the Juggaloism you can imagine. We talk Dave Mustaine’s conspiracy theories about the Aurora and Sikh shootings, and finish things off with the guy who burned Cheerios at the General Mills factory to protest gay marriage but then had a heart attack. I guess you could say that the theme was dark comedy.

The guys talk about some of their favorite SNL skits. They discuss some of the shows/programming that they are recently enjoying on television, and Brendan wonders why you drool more while taking a nap.
51 min - Matthew Parker returns to the Frotcast to talk about his recently released graphic novel, the New York Times piece he wrote dealing with the issue of death penalties, and his interview with Mancow. He answers some listeners questions about the various aspects of life in prison, how it’s a microcosm of society, and how gangs are like corporations. Matthew also talks about his transition from prison to attending the prestigious writing program at Columbia. He also gets into some of the reviews that have come out looking for some sort redemption in his novel. Things finish up with some beat boxing.

The guys talk about some of their least favorite events, the badminton controversy, talk nonsense about swimming, the lack of revealing outfits for volleyball, synchronized diving, and North Korea’s Olympic propaganda. 01:18:54 - The guys get into the hot topic of K-Stew cheating on R-Patz, the subsequent public apology, the Shrek of Twilight, K-Stew’s attractiveness and perceived personality, and the actual films themselves. Bret got caught reading Vogue, Matt talks about forcing himself to watch a Tyler Perry movie, and some more dog talk.

He talks about his time at the Daily Herald in Provo, Utah, and how he got fired from there. Eric was kind enough to read one of the death threats he got for his Dark Knight Rises prank. Vince has finally made the big time: he has been recently approved by Rotten Tomatoes. Brendan reveals a dark secret.
